Katja Juhola (b. 1975) is a Finnish curator, visual artist, and founder of the International Socially Engaged Art Symposium (ISEAS). She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Lapland, Faculty of Art and Design. With over 25 years of experience, she has exhibited in more than 100 shows in Finland and abroad.
Over the years, she has completed more than 15 major social art projects in Finland and five abroad. She served as the chairperson of the Raseborg Photography Center from 2014 to 2017, and of the Länsi-Uusimaa Art Society from 2021 to 2023. She has also curated several exhibitions.
Her practice includes drawing, painting, performance, and installation, blending structured planning with intuitive expression. Through color, form, and spatial presence, she explores emotional depth, social themes, and personal narratives. Her recent work moves toward activist art, grounded in ecological values and equality. She believes in the power of art to inspire participation and provoke social change.
Juhola values interdisciplinary collaboration and international dialogue, viewing the symposium as both a platform for critical artistic exchange and a personal act of activism beyond institutional limits.
